E-mentor Project Meeting 7 May 2012

We completed a fun ice-breaker using a dominant adjective starting with the first letter of our first name and posting on the whiteboard, eg Jezebel Jenny.

Christine then demonstrated how to use the program Quizlet and we spent 10 minutes creating our own quiz. this was a very worthwhile activity. We also reviewed how to link or embed into a wikispace.

Elluminate facilitator skills were embedded in the lessons with participants taking it turns to be the moderator. We learned how to Take Control, Application Share and set Timer

We also reviewed conducting a Poll.

Next time we are going to look at Google docs.

Really enjoyed the class and felt the time was well used.

E-Mentor Meeting - 16 April 2012

Lynne started off the meeting by asking the class (all two of us!) to participate in an ice breaker activity which was fun and gave us the opportunity to use some Blackboard tools.

We then discussed what whe had been working on and I shared that I had completed my first movie and two Jing tutorials (none of which would win an Academy Award) and without Christine's help I would have been stumped. Lynne asked me to put up the mvie and a Jing tutorial which I will do from home.

Unfortunately I was unable to get my microphone to work but as I was able to hear the dialogue and participate on the whiteboard I managed to keep up.

The class looked at creating an avatar using the Voki program.

The demonstration looked straightforward. I haven't had time to experiement yet but will be doing so to create a Tip of the Week avatar for our new Pines Learning on line course (Publisher).

E-mentor Session - 14 March 2012

We used this session to discuss Jing and review the test Jing that I had saved to the wiki. It had displayed as a large graphic then as a thumbnail.

Christine showed me how to save as link in new window.

We reviewed Screen-R another screen capture program.

Jenny to complete Jing tutorials to add to first lesson for Publisher.

We then looked at Christine's medical wiki and e-learning activities and reviewed different types on the Test wiki.

Jenny to create a quiz using Hot Potatoes or similar and upload to the wiki.

E-Mentor Session 29 February 2012

Met with Christine in the training and reviewed where are at.

1. Out of hours course has been postponed until we feel we are ready
2. Look at putting up one stand alone unit as a pilot, namely Med Terminology
3. How will we manage pronunciation??
4. Reviewed tools used to date, discussed i-Spring.
5. Jenny to complete one Jing tutorial by next meeting
6. Discussed puzzles - what tool would be best - Christine will look into then Jenny to trial
7. Discussion to be via Discussion tab on wiki space
8. Created a Wordle on Publisher page on wiki

Session 4 - Face to face meeting with e-Champion Christine Dix 9 November 2011

Christine and I brainstormed overview of course as best we could as I have not been able to do morework on timetable.

With Christine's help set up new wiki space and Publisher page and copied info from exisiting wiki to save time.

Next step is to create tutorial using Jing. Software will be available soon for our upgrade then we will meet again and Christine will give me a demo via Blackboard.

Session 3 Face to Face One on One Meeting with eChampion Christine Dix 13 October

We met at Pines Learning for Christine to show me a range of resources to review what you can achieve using e-tools.

Confirmed that we intend to use our wikispace and that it is not a fully on line course but blended delivery.

Looked at Christine’s Step into Safety wiki created for her Diploma which included a range of e-tools.

Reviewed Julie’s Jing file

Identified the following e-tools as likely to be useful:

Wiki, CoolText, I-springFree, Ms Word forms, Jing, Hot potatoes, Blogger, Podcasts, Blackboard Ellaborate (Elluminate)

Next step:

Create new wiki space

Give it a name (can't change it after it is created)

Start with Publisher

Create timetable for course so can break units into three components (classroom, e-classroom and self paced)

Next meeting will be e-meeting, Wednesday 19 October.

Session 2 Blackboard meeting 5 October 2011

Went into the classroom in the morning and set up audio without hitch. Was relieved when ableto access the classroom ready to start at 3 pm.

Lynne stepped us through the Orientation presentation demonstrating and using Blackboard.

Need to set up a blog and update weekly/fortnightly.

Christine demo’d Application Share whereby I could see her screen in another program. I envisage this is what we will be doing when teaching program features.

Lynne is going to put some Help links for blogging on our wiki.

Need to join Ning which is a state wide e-learning resource wiki.

There’s state wide PD training coming up.

Can replay sessions via link on e-mentor wiki.

Enjoyed the session, it was interesting and showed Blackboard to be user friendly. Was envisaging how it will work with our blended delivery course 2012. Really looking forward to learning Jing and keen to get on with it. Finished at 4.15 pm.
